What's the difference between the tiers?▸
Proofreading catches errors on a finished manuscript. Copy and line editing shape sentences and paragraphs. Developmental editing questions structure before either of those matters.
Do I keep the style sheet?▸
Yes — it's yours to hand to a cover designer, a second editor, or a sequel.
What if my manuscript needs more than the tier I asked for?▸
The free sample assessment says so upfront. If a manuscript needs a developmental pass before line editing would even make sense, we tell you that instead of quoting the wrong tier and finding out on page one.
Do you edit fiction and nonfiction the same way?▸
The tiers are the same, but a developmental edit for a novel focuses on plot and pacing where a nonfiction developmental edit focuses on argument and structure — the sample assessment names which applies before work starts.
Can I request the same editor for a second book?▸
Yes — ask when you come back, and we'll assign them again if they're available. If not, you get their style sheet and notes as a handoff so the next editor starts from where the last one left off.
