Books written, edited, published, and printed — in Chicago and Glasgow.
Jinnx Book Press exists for authors who want a straight answer to "what will this cost and how long will it take" before they commit to anything.
How Jinnx started
Jinnx Book Press started in 2011, in a shared office on Chicago's West Side, when a former acquisitions editor and a working ghostwriter got tired of watching first-time authors sign with agencies that couldn't say what a book would cost until the invoice showed up.
The fix wasn't complicated: put a real price on the page, assign a named writer or editor instead of routing you through a support pool, and tie payment to milestones a client can actually hold in their hands. That's still how every project here runs. Chicago is still home; a second studio opened in Glasgow in 2017 to work UK hours with UK authors instead of funneling everything through one time zone.
A future where an author outside the traditional publishing industry has the same access to real editorial talent, cover design, and retail distribution as one signed to a major house — without giving up their rights or their voice to get it.
Take a book from a recorded conversation, a rough draft, or a finished manuscript through to a shelf — with a named team, a fixed price, and the copyright staying exactly where it started: with the author.
Who this is for
Most people who end up here are writing something for the first time — a memoir, a business book, a novel they've been carrying around for years — across pretty much every genre a bookshelf holds. What they have in common isn't the book; it's that they don't yet know what any of it should cost, and they're wary of agencies that make you ask twice to find out. If you've already published and just need one specific service, that works too — the calculator and every service page here run standalone.
What we hold ourselves to
Four commitments that shape every page on this site, not just this one.
Prices on the page
Every service on this site carries a rate or a calculator, not a 'get a quote' form standing in for one.
A named team, not a pool
Your writer and your editor are assigned people, introduced when your project starts — not an anonymous 'expert team.'
Milestones, not a deposit
Payment is tied to delivered work you can hold: an outline, a chapter batch, a printed proof.
Rights stay with the author
Copyright, ISBN, and retail accounts are registered to you. We're the team that does the work, not the one that owns it after.
How a project starts
The same four steps whether you're bringing an idea, a draft, or just a question.
Inquiry
Send an outline, a finished draft, a question, or just an idea — through the contact form or the calculator, whichever gets you a number faster.
NDA & discovery call
Signed before anything you share gets read, on a free call that a publishing lead follows up on within one business day.
Named team assigned
Your writer or editor is introduced by name and stays on your project — not a support ticket routed to whoever's free that week.
Milestone plan agreed
A schedule and payment structure tied to delivered work, written into the agreement before anything starts.
